Frequently Asked Questions

What accounting standard is mandatory in Gabon?

Gabon applies the revised SYSCOHADA (OHADA Accounting System), in force since January 1, 2018. This framework is mandatory for all entities regardless of size. The chart of accounts has 8 classes and annual financial statements include the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, TAFIRE and notes. CassKai natively integrates this framework and automatically generates compliant statements for DSF filing.

What is the VAT rate in Gabon and how does CassKai handle it?

The standard VAT rate in Gabon is 18%, with a reduced 10% rate for certain sectors (hospitality, listed food products, etc.). CassKai automatically applies the correct rate according to the nature of the transaction, calculates collected and deductible VAT, prepares monthly returns and keeps consistency with SYSCOHADA accounting entries.

Is e-invoicing mandatory in Gabon?

Gabon is working on deploying an e-invoicing framework led by the DGI. The project aims to secure VAT and improve transaction traceability. Technical specifications and the enforcement timeline are being clarified. CassKai tracks regulatory developments and already enforces best practices (sequential numbering, legal mentions, archiving) to prepare you for compliance.

Does CassKai support the CEMAC CFA Franc (XAF)?

Yes. CassKai natively supports the CEMAC CFA Franc (XAF), the currency used in Gabon and across the CEMAC zone. Parity is fixed with the euro (1 EUR = 655.957 XAF), identical to the UEMOA XOF. This setup greatly simplifies consolidation for multi-country Franco-African groups. Multi-currency management, automatic conversions and display formats without decimals are built in.

Is CassKai suitable for Gabonese oil and mining companies?

CassKai covers the standard accounting and tax needs (SYSCOHADA, VAT, IS, DSF) that apply to all Gabonese businesses, including local subsidiaries of oil and mining players for day-to-day management. For heavy sector-specific requirements (special tax regimes, establishment conventions, upstream oil accounting), CassKai can integrate with dedicated industry tools and serve as a consolidation and cash monitoring backbone. A prior needs analysis is recommended for these specific contexts.

Why choose CassKai over Sage or a generic tool in Gabon?

CassKai is designed for the realities of Central African francophone SMEs: native SYSCOHADA integration, XAF CFA Franc support, cash-first management, full French interface, AI assistant focused on management control and treasury. Unlike Sage or QuickBooks, no costly adaptation or complex configuration is required to be operational in Gabon.
